Talaria Pro and every Sting model compared: prices, power, battery, weight and road status

The Talaria Pro and Sting range in our catalogue runs from €3,890 to €5,336 for the Sting models and €5,243 for the Komodo, and the right bike depends on whether you need road approval, how much power you can handle and how much weight you want to carry, not on the biggest kW figure. This guide compares the five Talaria models we stock, the Sting L1e, MX3, MX4, Sting R MX5 Pro and the Komodo, with prices from our catalogue, specifications from our product pages and cited sources, and the one detail most buyer guides leave out: factory speed limiters.

Quick picks: the Talaria range side by side

Start with the table. Prices are our current catalogue prices in euro including delivery to Denmark. Power is the peak figure, battery is voltage and amp-hours, weight is the published weight and speed is the top speed in the specification we could source. A dash means we found no reliable figure and left it out rather than guess. Click a model for the full product page.

Talaria Komodo€5,2433296 V / 45 Ah98 kg105 km/h

Three things stand out. First, the Talaria Sting L1e is the only Talaria here that is road-homologated: it is limited to 45 km/h for the EU L1e moped class. Second, the price ladder does not follow power: the Talaria Komodo has 32 kW peak for €5,243, less than the €5,336 of the Sting R MX5 Pro with 13.4 kW. Third, weight climbs fast: from 63 kg for the MX3 to 98 kg for the Komodo.

How the Talaria Sting range fits together

Talaria's Sting family started as a light, motocross-style electric bike and grew upward. The MX3 is the entry model with a 60 V / 38.4 Ah battery and 34 N·m of torque. The Sting MX4 adds a bigger battery, a wider swingarm and hydraulic disc brakes. The Sting R MX5 Pro moves to a 72 V system, a much larger battery and a higher power rating. The Komodo is a separate, much larger machine with a 96 V battery and a 21-inch front wheel. The Sting L1e takes the MX3-class platform and limits it to the moped class so it can be registered.

That gives you a simple way to think about the range: L1e for road use, MX3 and MX4 for trails and general off-road riding, MX5 Pro for performance, Komodo for full-size power. If you are comparing brands, our Sur-Ron versus Talaria article sets the two side by side, and our guide to every Surron for sale covers the other brand model by model.

Talaria Komodo and Talaria Sting L1e, the largest and the road-homologated Talaria models

Talaria Sting L1e: the road-homologated Talaria

The Sting L1e lists a 3,000 W PMSM motor (6,000 W peak), 34 N·m of torque, a 60 V / 38.4 Ah battery with LG cells, a 45 km/h limit for the EU L1e moped class, a claimed 70 km range at 40 km/h, and 68 kg including the battery, for €3,890. It has a 870 mm seat height, a 100 kg maximum load and four-level regenerative braking. Our product page says road use requires registration, insurance, the correct licence class (for example AM) in your country and a helmet, and that off-road use is on private land only.

It is the one to choose if you want a bike you can ride to work and, on private land, on a trail, and if a 45 km/h limit suits you. It is not the one to choose if you want the highest top speed off-road; for that, look at the models below. Check the licence rules in our guides for Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Spain and Finland.

Talaria Sting MX3 and MX4: the trail pair

The Sting MX3 (€4,508) lists a PMSM motor with 34 N·m, a 60 V / 38.4 Ah battery, an 80 km claimed range, 63 kg and 19-inch wheels front and rear, with talariacanada.com and freshlycharged.com as sources. It is the lightest and cheapest Sting off-road bike, and the better value if you will not use the extra components of the MX4.

The Talaria Sting MX4 (€4,784) lists 8 kW peak, a 60 V / 45 Ah battery, hydraulic brakes, about 66 kg and a top speed of about 85 km/h, but with a factory limiter at 32 km/h. The €276 step up from the MX3 buys a bigger battery, a wider swingarm and a more planted feel. For most trail riders who want power without a premium price, the MX4 is the sweet spot of the range.

Talaria Pro: the Sting R MX5 Pro performance model

The Sting R MX5 Pro (€5,336) lists 13.4 kW peak (5.5 kW rated), a 72 V / 40 Ah battery (2,880 Wh), 95 km/h and 72 kg, with elmox.de and talariacanada.com as sources. It is the bike for riders who have outgrown the MX4, are heavier or want more battery for long days. The MX5 Pro costs €552 more than the MX4 and gives you roughly 1.7 times the peak power and a battery about 7 percent larger in watt-hours.

Talaria Komodo: the full-size one

The Komodo (€5,243) lists 32 kW peak (8.6 kW rated), a 96 V / 45 Ah battery (4.3 kWh), a claimed 115 km range, 105 km/h and 98 kg, with 21-inch and 18-inch wheels, with electrek.co and visordown.com as sources. It is a different class: a heavy, powerful bike for experienced riders who want full-size motocross-style performance. It is cheaper than the MX5 Pro in euro, but you pay for it in weight and in the experience needed to ride it.

Price per peak kilowatt: what the numbers say

A simple way to compare value is the catalogue price divided by the published peak power. The Komodo comes to about €164 per peak kW (€5,243 for 32 kW), the Sting R MX5 Pro to about €398 (€5,336 for 13.4 kW), the MX4 to about €598 (€4,784 for 8 kW) and the Sting L1e to about €648 (€3,890 for 6 kW). The MX3 has no published peak kW figure in our sources, so we leave it out.

Read that carefully. Peak power is not rated power, a heavier bike is harder to handle, and a road-homologated bike is limited by design to 45 km/h. Cheaper per kW does not mean better for you: it means more power for the money if you can use it.

Factory speed limiters: read this before you compare top speeds

Several Talaria models ship with a factory speed limiter, and spec sheets often quote the unrestricted top speed. Our MX4 page lists about 85 km/h and notes a factory limiter at 32 km/h. Limiters exist for compliance reasons, and what you may do with one depends on where you ride and on the rules for private land versus public roads. Do not remove or change a limiter on a bike you want to use on a public road: that can affect its legal status.

Practical advice: ask the seller what limiter the bike ships with, what the unrestricted speed means for insurance and legality in your country, and what is covered by the guarantee. This is why we state the limiter on the product page instead of leaving it out.

Road status for the other models

Apart from the Sting L1e, the Talaria models in our catalogue are sold as off-road bikes for private land. Under EU Regulation (EU) No 168/2013, a two-wheeled vehicle registered for public roads must be type-approved in an L-category such as L1e or L3e; an off-road-only model has no such approval and cannot simply be registered later. Our product pages say the same for the MX4: it is intended for off-road use and is not road-legal without registration and homologation. Which Talaria for which rider

  • Ride to work and on trails, 45 km/h is fine: Sting L1e.
  • First Talaria, trails, best value: Sting MX3.
  • Trail rider who wants more power and a bigger battery: Sting MX4.
  • Heavier or experienced rider, long days: Sting R MX5 Pro.
  • Experienced rider who wants full-size power: Komodo.

What a Talaria really costs

Our Talaria prices run from €3,890 to €5,336 including delivery to Denmark. We ship from Germany with free EU land shipping on orders over €3,000, orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal, and the products carry a 2-year guarantee. The minimum order is €350. Budget separately for a certified helmet, gloves, boots and a back protector, and for basic spares such as brake pads, chain and sprockets.

Compare the total price with delivery, the guarantee terms and the availability of parts, not only the headline number. Ask us on the contact page for the current price, stock and the exact specification of any model.

Buying checklist and common mistakes

  1. Decide road or trail first. Only the Sting L1e is homologated for the road in our range.
  2. Ask about the factory limiter. Know what speed the bike ships with and what that means where you ride.
  3. Compare peak with peak. Peak and rated power are different numbers.
  4. Match weight to rider. The Komodo is 98 kg; try lifting it.
  5. Beware of too-good prices. Buy from a seller with a company registration and a guarantee.
  6. Check parts and support. Brake pads, chain and tyres wear out.
  7. Budget for protective gear. Helmet and protection are not optional.
